Galveston: Unveiling the Historical Charms
A short ferry ride away lay Galveston, where history intertwines with modern charm. We strolled through the historic streets, marveled at ornate Victorian architecture, and immersed ourselves in the island's rich maritime history. So much to see in Galveston, Bishop's Palace, tall ship Alyssa, the Strand, Pelican Island & Seawolf Park, the Grand 1894 Opera House and of course cruise ship watching.
New Iberia, Louisiana: A Cajun Adventure
Our travels took us to the heart of Louisiana, where we settled into the KOC Campground in New Iberia. Two nights here afforded time for excursions to the Tabasco factory, where we delved into the secrets of this iconic condiment, and the Konriko rice mill, learning the art of rice cultivation. Rip Van Winkle gardens, the Joseph Jefferson home, a living piece of history, left us enchanted with tales of famous actors, pirates and south Louisiana culture.
Natchez, Mississippi: Antebellum Elegance
Our path led us to Natchez, Mississippi, a city rich with antebellum heritage. Nestled along the Mississippi River, the River View RV Park and Resort provided a serene backdrop for our exploration. Longwood and Stanton Hall, two majestic antebellum homes, offered us a glimpse into the grandeur of the past. A splendid evening at the Magnolia Grill treated us to breathtaking river views.
Guntersville, Alabama: A Tranquil Retreat
Guntersville, Alabama, welcomed us with open arms at the Deerlick Creek Campground. The beauty of the surroundings captured our hearts, leaving us yearning for more. Our stay at Lake Guntersville State Park for Kim's quilting retreat was a delightful mingling of creativity, outdoor pursuits, and camaraderie.
Franklin, North Carolina: Quilting and Adventuring
Ah, the Great Outdoors RV Resort in Franklin, North Carolina! Here, Kim orchestrated a gathering of kindred spirits, where quilts were stitched with love, and friends relished in various activities. From fishing and golfing to exploring the charming town, we basked in the camaraderie and breathtaking mountain landscapes. Our hosts at GORV provided us with a great cookout and live music party for Memorial Day.
Sevierville, Tennessee: Mountain Quilting Festival and More
Our journey continued to Sevierville, Tennessee, where we set up camp at Riverside RV Park and Resort. The mountain air was filled with creativity during the 30th Annual Mountain Quiltfest. Amidst laughter and shared experiences, we explored the quaint town, indulged in smoky ribs, and marveled at the World's Largest Knife Store.
*Loretta Lynn's Ranch Campground: A Country Retreat**
Our route led us to Loretta Lynn's Ranch Campground, an unexpected treasure near Nashville, Tennessee. While some of us ventured to explore Loretta Lynn's historic home, others enjoyed the tranquility of camp life. The bond between us and our travel companions deepened, making it hard to bid them farewell.
Homeward Bound: Reflections and Memories
Our homeward journey was marked by a stop at the vibrant city of Memphis, Tennessee. Tom Sawyer's Campground embraced us for two nights, offering a brief respite before we concluded our epic expedition. A bittersweet farewell to our travel companions, the Hamalas, left us with a promise of future adventures.

As the miles ticked away, we embarked on the final stretch back to our beloved Edmond, Oklahoma. With 60 nights of wanderlust, 3,000 miles traversed through 9 states, and countless memories etched in our hearts, our journey had come to an end.
