Big Booty Judy
Ford F350 Lariat DRW - aka Big Booty Judy
Our tow rig is a 2020 Ford F350 DRW. It's a Lariat trim package with leather and lots of bells and whistles. I really like this truck. It handles the Palace with ease.
We bought her on the way to get dog food at Costco one evening. Popped into the Ford house to see what they had in stock for F350 and there were two. One long-bed SRW with a sport appearance package and the one be ultimately bought. The only option it has I wasn't really interested in is the sunroof and the one concession I made was the lack of power running boards. Other than that, all the boxes were ticked. I made and offer and they accepted. That was August 2020 and it turned out to be a very good time to get a truck like this as soon afterward, they became impossible to find and pricing went through the roof.
On the technical side, it's a crew cab 4x4 with a 6.7L V8 diesel spec's at 475 hp and 1075 lbf torque. The payload capacity of 5300 lbs means she can handle the Palace without a care. The rear differential is a 4.10 with an LSD. It's a stump puller and darn quick for an 8000 lb pickup. It also has the Ford puck system for the fifth wheel hitch which makes installation a breeze. OK, it's a heavy breeze.
Not many modifications have been done, it's pretty complete from the factory. I added a BakFlip F1 bed cover and had the dealer Line-X the bed, tint the windows and clear bra the forward facing surfaces as part of the deal. I've done a little carbon fiber wrapping and added some sequential running board accent lights. Like I said, not many.
Now some folks remark about driving a dually around town. That's where Big Booty Judy's nickname comes in. While maneuvering her around in tight parking, Big Booty Judy just popped out and it stuck. But actually it's not that bad. Yes, we park away from the store. Yes, you have to swing wide. But the 360 degree camera system really gives you great visibility of parking spaces and so on. Actually, I think it's easier to park than our F150.
Fuel mileage averages 10 mpg pulling the 5th wheel. That includes the mountains of Colorado and North Carolina so not all flat land.
