Smoking / Grilling

I love smoked meats and grilling and there's no way I'm hitting the road without my equipment. We have two grills on board. One is a gas grill and the other a pellet smoker. If I'm looking for a quick grill, then the Weber Q1200 gas grill is the tool of choice. But if I have the time, out comes the Green Mountain Grill Davy Crockett.

The Weber Q1200 is a solid little grill and I've cooked everything on it. I've even stuck the cast iron skillet in there and cooked eggs and bacon. It  tends to run a little hot though so things like chicken thighs tend to cook too fast without rendering out all the fat the way I like to. This grill has been modified to work off the RV propane system by removing the buit in regulator and installing a quick disconnect for it. That way if I want to run off the RV, I can pop it off and if I'm using small bottles, I can pop it back on.

Now for the main attraction - Davy Crockett. He's the star of the show and let me tell you what, you can't beat a nice reverse seared New York Strip off this baby.

Just picked up a 15 ft 50 Amp extension for the RV power the other day. I already have a 50 ft that I use at home to connect the Palace to the sticks and bricks but that thing is just too much for the road.  This 15 footer should be just the ticket. RV Mate did it up right with this one. Molded in handles to help make conneting easier and they even sent us some goodies! A towel because who wants to roll up a dirty cord? (Kim's already put a buttonhole in it for a carabiner) A tote strap. And a tote bag, which is admittedly too cute for the cable toting task so Kim's already claimed it.

Grab yourself on of these so you won't come up short.

Yes, the label says 'do not turn on black tank flush with the valve closed' or something like that. but we all want to get that really good flush with a couple tank-fulls of clean water, right? So, I set a timer for five minutes and figure that enough. Well, now with this little dandy, I'll know EXACTLY how much water is in there and get the maximum effect. Also, when I'm pre-filling the black tank with a few gallons, I'll know I put 10 gallons in there.

This is also great for your fresh water tank, You'll know exactly how much water you're starting out with.
